Thank you for this insightful essay, Nick. I must beg to differ in one regard: many of us who had been abused by the Catholic Church heard her--excruciatingly and gratefully. She has been a beacon of truth and powerful rebellion for me for my entire adult life. I am heartbroken at her passing and eternally grateful to her.
Absolutely fair point— I only meant media and public responses. It’s interesting too to see that not much effort seems to have been made to find out whether there was a response like that . And now the answer to that is clear— there was, as you describe, and they did not want to report that. Thanks for setting me right on this :-)
